President of India Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the newly built Vishvashanti Buddha Vihar in Udgir of Latur district. The newly inaugurated Buddha Vihar in Udgir is a replica of the Buddha Vihar in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar is spread over 15 hectares.

Indian club thrower Dharambir breaks Asian record to win gold at Paris 2024 Paralympics. While compatriot Pranav Surma won the silver medal. Dharambir won this medal in the men's F51 event. Dharambir won the gold by throwing the club 34.92 metres in his fifth attempt.

Bengaluru's Siddharth Agarwal has created history by becoming the oldest Indian to swim solo across the English Channel. On August 29, at the age of 49, Agarwal completed a 42-km swim in 15 hours and six minutes. He has surpassed the record set by Srikanth Vishwanathan in the year 2018.

Australia's star player Travis Head played a brilliant innings of 80 runs in 25 balls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari' initiative in Surat, Gujarat through video conferencing. Under this initiative, around 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures are being constructed across the state with community participation.

In wrestling, Indian wrestler Jyoti Berwal won the gold medal in the women's 76 kg freestyle category at the U20 World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain. Jyoti won the match in the final without giving Ukraine's Maria Orlevich a chance to score even a single point.
