The elegant former Queen of erstwhile Jaipur state, Gayatri Devi (90) passed away on July 29. She was once named by Vogue magazine as one of the 10 most beautiful women in the world along with actress Leela Naidu. She was a pioneer in women’s education and was elected MP from Jaipur thrice. She was a former princess of Cooch Behar and the third wife of the Jaipur ruler Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II.
