A resolution was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly wherein the fourth day of February is set to be designated as the International Day of Human Fraternity, starting from the next year of the adoption of the resolution, i.e. from the year 2021 onwards.
The resolution adopted by the United Nations General Assembly acknowledges the initiatives that are aimed at boosting intercultural and interreligious dialogue. The resolution encourages all the Member States of the United Nations General Assembly to encourage a culture of inclusion, solidarity, peace, and tolerance. Additionally, the resolution recalls and acknowledges the meeting between His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and His Holiness Pope Francis, that resulted in the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together", on February 4, 2019.
The International Day of Human Fraternity takes into consideration the impactful efforts of the United Arab Emirates to encourage the values of tolerance, coexistence, and peace worldwide.
The Fourth International Conference of PLURIL will be convened on the 4th of February in Abu Dhabi by the Trends Research and Advisory, in association with the University Platform for the Study of Islam and the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence. This day coincides with the 5th anniversary of the 'Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Coexistence", along with the International Day of Human Fraternity. The theme of the conference this time is going to be "Islam and Human Fraternity: The Impact and Prospects of the Abu Dhabi Declaration on Coexistence".
The effect of the Document on Human Fraternity will be explored on the fifth anniversary. Moreover, the transformations that are needed to encourage global human fraternity will also be analyzed.
Three key aspects will be highlighted by the discussions. The first one would be the one where the matter of human citizenship in multi-religious societies and the legal protection of religious minorities will be analyzed. The second one would be where the importance of ideology and religion in the present conflicts will be analyzed. The third one would be where theological and religious thinking would be explored.
A total of 57 speakers will be attending the conference. The conference will also be attended by chairpersons coming from over 40 different universities and research institutions. A total of 12 sessions will be held by specialists belonging to different academic and scientific research backgrounds. Moreover, a total of 5 impactful lectures will be a part of the discussion.
