Jeevan Pramaan: How to Get a Digital Life Certificate? Check Guidelines

Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled, Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate, DLC, system developed for India's Pensioners. It enables the process of generating one's life status to pension disbursing agencies sans any requirement of submission of physical certificates. Here is the step-by-step procedure to obtain a Digital Life Certificate through Jeevan Pramaan.

Pre-Requisites for Generation of a Digital Life Certificate

Before actually starting with the process, you are required to have the following

• Aadhaar Number: The pensioner should possess an Aadhaar number.
• Mobile Number: Existing mobile number registered with the Aadhaar account.
• Registration at Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA): Aadhaar number needs to be registered with the concerned PDA such as banks and post offices, etc.
• Biometric Device: Authentication is a must using a biometric device that reads the fingerprint and iris scan. Face authentication does not need this.  Device 

Requirements:

• Biometric authentication requires Windows 7 or above on a PC or an Android mobile/tablet with version 4.0 or above
• Face authentication requires An Android device of version 9 and above with a minimum camera of 13 MP. There is also an additional requirement for extra space on the device.

Steps to Generate a Digital Life Certificate

1. Download the Application:
• Pensioners can download the Jeevan Pramaan client application from the official portal Jeevan Pramaan for their PC or Android device./
2. Authentication Process:

Open the application and enter your Aadhaar number.You will be authenticated using a biometric device through fingerprint or iris scanning, or using the instructions displayed on the screen for face authentication.

1. Getting Your Confirmation:

You will receive an SMS confirmation with your Jeevan Pramaan Certificate ID, after which your authentication is successful.

1. Downloading Your Certificate

You can download a PDF copy of your Digital Life Certificate at the Jeevan Pramaan portal by using either your Jeevan Pramaan ID or UID number.

Alternative Methods to Obtain DLC

If you need help or do not have the required appliances, you can go to:

• Common Service Centers (CSCs): These centers shall be enabled to assist in the preparation of DLCs.
• Designated banks and government offices are also producing Digital Life Certificates.

Validity and Maintenance

The Digital Life Certificate generated as applicable by the Pension Sanctioning Authority remains valid for a specific period. According to these guidelines, pensioners are supposed to renew their certificates. If inaccuracies in personal details exist at the time of generation, it may lead to rejection; hence accurate information is the key.
