Indian badminton fans are in for a treat as two of the country's top shuttlers, Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy, are set to clash in a thrilling Round of 16 encounter at the Paris Olympics on August 1, 2024. This all-Indian showdown promises to be a spectacle, with both players in top form. The duo, who have both impressed in the group stage, will battle it out for a place in the quarterfinals.

The unseeded Lakshya advanced to the round of 16 with a phenomenal 21-18, 21-12 win over third seed Jonatan Christie. Despite falling behind 4-0 in the first game, Lakshya fought back, playing with the drift, and stunned the Indonesian by clinching the game.

In the second game, playing against the drift, Lakshya dominated, easily overcoming a struggling Christie and leaving a lasting impression with his performance. Lakshya entered the match with a poor 4-1 record against Christie, having last defeated him four years ago at the Badminton Asia Team Championships. Despite the pressure, Lakshya delivered a magnificent effort to outclass Christie.

Lakshya Sen vs HS Prannoy Head to Head Record

Although Indian badminton fans hoped for both players to win a medal, the tournament's draw prevented that outcome.

The head-to-head record between Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy is surprisingly close, with Lakshya holding a slight edge of 4-3.

While Lakshya has been the more consistent performer in recent times, Prannoy has shown remarkable resilience and has the ability to upset anyone on his day. Their most recent encounter was at the India Open in January 2023, where Lakshya triumphed 21-14, 21-15.

Ultimately, the player who can maintain their composure and execute their game plan effectively is likely to emerge victorious. Regardless of the outcome, this match is a testament to the strength of Indian badminton and is sure to be a highlight of the Olympics.
