As per the census 2011, out of the entire population of the state, Maharashtra 45.22% people reside in urban areas. 50,818,259 people out of the total population live in urban area in which the number of males is 26,704,022 and females are 24,114,237.

 

In Urban areas, the sex ratio was 903 females per 1000 males. The total number of children between 0-6 years living in urban areas was 5,637,563. 

 

11.09 % were children (0-6) of the total population in urban areas.  For urban areas in Maharashtra, the average Literacy rate was 88.69 %. The males were 92.12% literate and females at 75.75%.  Maharashtra, total literates in urban region were 40,071,529.
