    50,818,259 people out of the total population of Maharashtra live in urban area in which the number of males is 26,704,022 and females are 24,114,237. In Urban areas, the sex ratio was 903 females per 1000 males. The total number of children between 0-6 years living in urban areas was 5,637,563. In urban areas of Maharashtra, the average Literacy rate was 88.69 %. The male literacy rate was 92.12% and female literacy rate was 84.89%.
