Samoan batter Darius Visser authored cricket history at the East Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifier for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Apia. In only his third appearance representing his country in the shortened format, Visser blasted a monstrous 132 runs off 62 deliveries to set a new T20I record. The 28-year-old left all spectators astonished during his breathtaking assault of an overbowled by Nalin Nipiko of the opposition. With six mighty maximums cleared out of the stadium, Visser accumulated a staggering 39 runs in that over alone.
Never before had a team amassed over 36 in a single rotation of the bowling crease, and only three players had ever launched half a dozen sixes in an over across men's international T20 play prior. The prior mark for most runs off an over was 36 by both Yuvraj Singh in 2007 and Kieron Pollard just last year, feats that Visser simply obliterated with his unprecedented fireworks at the crease.
