Hashmatullah Shahidi, who captained Afghanistan in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, has been omitted from the lineup, his last appearance in a T20 International dating back to 2022. On the other hand, emerging talent Nangyal Kharoti, who marked his international debut against Ireland in March of this year, has earned a berth in the squad.

The 20-year-old showcased his prowess during that series, securing five wickets across three matches with an impressive economy rate of merely 5.90. Additionally, another promising Afghan cricketer to secure a position is wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Ishaq, who previously represented Afghanistan in the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cups of 2020 and 2022.
