Take a safari to see tigers of Odisha. Why is Odisha state all set to bring safaris for its black tigers?

Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha has recently announced that the state of Odisha is all set to begin a tiger safari dedicated to the melanistic tigers of Odisha near the Similipal Tiger Reserve. What makes this safari special is the fact that it is actually in a class of itself. The unique melanistic tigers are found only in Odisha. It is for the very first time that the world will be able to see tigers through an especially dedicated safari. On this joyous declaration, the Chief Minister urges the tourists to visit and experience the world of the "majestic" melanistic tigers through the black tiger safari.
The technical committee of the National Tiger Conservation Authority has given the approval for the same.
It is by the month of October that the safari is expected to get ready for the visitors to enjoy.
Understanding the majestic melanistic tigers 

The melanistic tigers are unique in their appearance, and what makes these tigers unique enough to stand apart from the crowd is their completely or largely black color. The black color of these tigers, however, is derived from a genetic condition. 
There exists a substance in our skin, hair, and eyes that gives these three their dark and almost black color. This substance is known as melanin. When the melanin production in the body of an animal goes beyond the normal range, it results in a genetic condition known as melanism.
One may find many royal Bengal tigers of Similipal having melanin levels that are more than normal. This condition gives these tigers the black stripes on their coats, making them super unique in their appearance. Some also call these tigers pseudo-melanistic. The reason is that these tigers are not completely black in color, and rather hold large black stripes on their coats.
Interestingly, when the genetic analyses of other tigers in the country were studied, it was found that the Similipal black tigers may have come up from a very tiny population of tigers. These tigers are inbred. It is important to note that the Similipal Tiger Reserve cats actually reside isolated from the other tigers. This means that these tigers breed among themselves.

A bit about the Similipal Tiger Reserve

The Similipal is a tiger reserve and a national park. The STR is situated in the Mayurbhanj district, which is in the northern part of the state of Odisha. The term "Similipal" actually refers to the "Simul tree”, where "Simul" means silk cotton.

Spread across a land of about 2750 sq km, the beautiful park is home to a total of 1078 plant species. These include 94 beatific orchid species.

At the same time, those who wish to enjoy some semi-evergreen forests will also not be disappointed. Additionally, many herbivores too enjoy their grazing grounds through the wide grasslands in the tiger reserve.

Talking about the fauna of the tiger reserve, it is famous for the hill mynah, elephants, and tigers. Additionally, the fact that the tiger reserve comprises the highest population of tiger in the Odisha state.
