Bharat Bandh Today: According to reports, several government and private schools have been closed today while universities have postponed the examinations to be conducted today due to the Bharat Bandh called by the trade organizations across the country. the nationwide strike has been called in protest against the anit-labour policies brought in by the central government. Although the examinations for the universities have been postponed, the National Testing Agency has decided to conduct the JEE Main 2020 examination today as per schedule.
Students appearing for the examination today are advised to reach the examination venue well before time as transportation is also expected to be affected due to the strike. Yesterday, the ICAR NET 2020 was also postponed due to the strike. the examination which was scheduled to be conducted today will now be conducted on January 11, 2020
ICAR NET 2020 Exam Postponed
As mentioned above, the ICAR or the Indian Council of Agriculture Research has decided postpone the ICAR NET 2020 Exam scheduled to be held on 8th January 2020. As per original schedule, the ICAR NET 2020 exam was to be held from 8th to 10th January 2020. However, now, the exam scheduled for 8th January has been reschedule to 11th January 2020 in light of Bharat Bandh called by Trade Unions to protest against government’s anti-labour policies. However, the council has also notified that only the date of the exam will be changed and all the other aspects i.e. the exam venue, exam slot and time will remain unchanged.
No update about JEE Main 2020 and UPTET 2019 Exam
Currently, NTA has not issued any clarification or notification about changes in the JEE Main 2020 schedule. JEE Main 2020 engineering entrance exam is currently going on for the January session. With Bharat Bandh scheduled for tomorrow, NTA is yet to issue any clarification about postponement or cancellation of JEE Main Exam for tomorrow.
On similar lines, UPTET 2019 exam i.e. Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is also scheduled to be held on 8th January 2020 – the same day as Bharat Bandh. UPTET 2019 exam was scheduled to be held in December 2019 but was postponed owing to the anti-CAA protests. So, far exam authority has not announced any cancellation or delays in UPTET 2019 exam scheduled for tomorrow due to Bharat Bandh.
No Clarity on School Holidays
In the wake of Bharat Bandh called by 10 Central Trade Unions tomorrow, currently no district administration has announced School Holidays. However, all DMs have been asked to monitor the situation closely and issue direction for school closures tomorrow, if and when needed. Bharat Bandh is expected to impact the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal as well as Kerala.
