The Benaras Hindu University has introduced a scholarship scheme for students of the Central Hindu School. The scholarship will be provided to the meritorious students of the Central Hindu School belonging to the financially weaker sections of the society. As per the announcement, the scholarships will be provided one student from the Central Hindu Boys Schools and two students from the Central Hindu Girls School. Both the schools are run by the administration of the BHU.
The announcement of the scholarship scheme was made by the Vice Chancellor of BHU, Rakesh Bhatnagar. The students from both the schools will be selected to receive the prestigious scholarship on the basis of their performance in Class 5 results every year. The scholarship holder is required to have mandatorily obtained at least 75% marks in every class.
BHU Public Relation Officer, Rajesh Singh announced that the scholarship scheme to be known as ‘Shrimati Pratibha and Shri Vaidyanath Banerjee Scholarship Scheme’ will come into effect from the current session. According to Singh the students awarded the scholarship will be provided with complete school fee, books, stationary and uniform from Classes 6 through 12.
The initiative to start the scholarship scheme has been taken by Rakesh Bhatnagar’s wife, Nirupama Banerjee along with her kin , Sarju Geeta Banerjee and Ajeet Banerjee. The scholarship scheme has been started in the memory of their late father and mother. A donation of 4.24 lakh as a fund for the scholarship has been made by the donors.
