Google India ‘YouTube Learning Destination’: In order facilitate online learning, Google India has launched a unique platform called ‘YouTube Learning Destination’. The platform will assist students, parents and educators in finding relevant and high quality learning content on YouTube created by education focused YouTube Creators. According to reports, the YouTube Learning Destination presently offers high quality online learning content in English as well as Hindi. Google reportedly is working with local educators to bring out more content in other regional languages as well including Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi.
Remote Learning during Lockdown
Google India’s ‘YouTube Learning Destination’ is an initiative that has been specially launched to help students transition and acclimatize themselves to the ‘remote learning’ format. Remote Learning or Study at Home has become a much needed necessity in today’s times when educational institutions across the country have been closed for nearly a month and half due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Google Tools for Remote Learning
Looking at this reality, Google India has stepped up to offer its technological tools and products to help connect students and educators across India. YouTube Learning Destination is just one of the offerings that Google India has brought to the fore to cater to the current situation. According to Bani Dhawan Head of Education, India and South Asia, Google, to facilitate online digital learning Google has offered “free access to the premium features of Google Meet, to extend enterprise-grade video-conferencing capabilities to all G Suite and G Suite for education customers, globally, until September, which enables up to 250 participants in a single video conference”.
In addition to this, Google India has also collaborated with FICCI Arise to train over teachers and students in over 250 schools across the country to effectively use these tools to facilitate online learning. Google has launched ‘Teach from Home’ hub, which provides support to the educators and teachers to start to begin teaching remotely.
