
The Human Resource Development Minister has announced that Rs. 4371.90 Crore has been sanctioned as revised cost estimates of Six National Institutes of Technology, which include four institutes in North East India and one each in Delhi and Puducherry. The four institutes in the North-Eastern states include Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram.
According to the HRD Ministry, this new National Institute of Technology will become fully functional from March 31, 2022 with an overall student capacity of 6,320 on all the six campuses.
According to the press release issued by the MHRD, the Government is committed to providing quality education and infrastructure improvement in the educational institutions all over the country and especially to the students from the North-Eastern States.
The HRD Minister has also informed that the government has also granted permission to establish a permanent campus for Central University of Sikkim. According to the ministry Rs. 986.47 Crore has been granted for permanent campus of Sikkim University at Yangyang.
The State Government has allotted 300 Acres of land at Rs, 15 Crore from which 265.94 Acres of land has already been handed over to the university. The handing over for the remaining land however is under process.
Webinar to be conducted on May 28
The HRDMinister is set to conduct a webinar on May 28, 2020 to address the issues faced by the colleges in light of the recent lockdown. According to reports, the Webinar will be conducted at 3 PM tomorrow by the Ministry along with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in order to address the problems arising due to the lockdown and the problems faced by the students in the universities and colleges. The Webinar will be conducted to find solutions to these problems and turn these challenges into opportunities for the students and the teachers from the colleges.
