Indraprastha University Vice-Chancellor: Mahesh Verma will be the new Vice-Chancellor of the Indraprastha University. He will be on this position for the next 5 years. The education department declared the name of Mahesh Verma as the new VC of the GGSIPU. Earlier, Mr. Verma has served as the Director of Maulana Azad Medical Institute of Dental Sciences. It is expected that Mahesh Verma will be taking the charge as VC of the university next week.
It is also important to note that Mahesh Verma is a recipient of Padma Shri and he is a fellow of many eminent associations. He has been associated with the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians, Glasgow; Royal College of Surgeons, England; Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh; International College of Oral Implantologist and American Dental Association. The GGSIPU has over 128 affiliated colleges and Mr. Verma will be looking forward to address the issues of development and academics when takes charge.
In his address, Mr. Verma said, “There are 12 schools in the university and each one of them have specific needs. The initial period will involve consultation with stakeholders like faculty members and administration to understand the challenges faced by the institution. It is important to strengthen the administration and ensure welfare measures for student and faculty. Going with the current trend, we will also focus on innovation in emerging areas like artificial intelligence and robotics focusing on multidisciplinary research.”
The development of infrastructure of the university is one of the most important issue to be addressed. The campus of the university at Dwarka is in progress. The construction of the campus in East Delhi is still underway. The VC also stressed on the development of the placement opportunities for the students of the university. There are many issues that need to be addressed and he is sure to make things happen.
