J&K School Reopening Update: As per the latest update, the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department has issued an order confirming that Schools in the Jammu’s Summer Zone will reopen for Class 9 to 12 Students starting from 1st February 2021. The school reopening decision will be applicable to all private, aided and government schools in the area. Schools in the Summer Zone are slated to reopen after a gap of nearly 10 months, after schools were closed down in March 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Official Order Issued for School Reopening
The school reopening decision has been formally communicated to all the schools falling in the Jammu’s Summer Zone through an official order issued by Education Department Secretary B K Singh. The order says “It is hereby ordered that all government educational institutions including recognised private schools shall physically be opened in a staggered manner for academic activities as per the schedule.” The order further clarified that schools in the summer zone areas of the Jammu division will reopen for students of Classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 from 1st February 2021.
COVID-19 Guidelines to be Followed
The order passed by the Education Department reads that schools should strictly follow the COVID-19 Standard Operation Procedures (SoPs) at their premises. The order further also clarifies that in case of elementary schools, teachers will be required to physically attend classes from 1st February 2021 onwards while students can resume their studies from 8th February onwards. The order further reads that the Kashmir division and winter zone areas of the Jammu division will reopen as per their respective schedule.
