
LMS System: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will launch 2,500 smart classrooms and distribute tablet PCs to 1.55 lakh students of higher education on 23rd June. Under Karnataka's Learning Management System (LMS), the launch the smart classrooms and distribution of tablet PCs to students will be held at Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha. The Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will launch these ambitious programs at 11 am.
These programs are being implemented under Karnataka LMS by the department of collegiate education. The distribution of Tablet PCs will also take place simultaneously in different colleges of the state in presence of the respective elected representatives.
Special Guests of the launch
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be attending as a special invitee. Deputy Chief Minister and Higher education minister, Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana, D V Sadananda Gowda, MP and Minister Of Chemicals and Fertilisers, and others will be present.
Reopening of Schools and Colleges
As per the latest update, a high-level committee constituted by the Karnataka government has recommended the reopening of schools in a staggered manner, with on-campus classes first beginning for senior-level students. An interim research report submitted by the committee suggests that the state can reopen schools and colleges with proper protocols. On Monday, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, S Suresh Kumar said that a final decision on reopening of schools would be taken as per the advice of the chief minister based on the suggestions submitted by the committee.
Karnataka to Implement NEP from this year
Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan said the new National Education Policy (NEP) will be implemented from this academic year. On an international level virtual conference on 'Education and Industries', Dr Ashwath Narayan said, "The NEP will be implemented from this year despite Covid-19. It offers an answer to all the problems faced by the students, parents and teachers on the prevailing education system." Earlier too the Karnataka State government was proactive on the NEP. Karnataka is the first State to initiate policy implementation. “We have the clarity that the implementation of the spirit and intent of the policy are most critical to accomplish the stated vision,” stated Dr Ashwath Narayan.
