KEAM 2020 Exam: As per the latest update, 5 students who appeared for the KEAM 2020 engineering entrance exam have tested positive for COVID-19 infection as per media reports. Reports confirmed that two students had tested positive for Coronavirus infection on 21st July 2020 while 3 more similar COVID-19 cases were identified among the students who had appeared for KEAM 2020 entrance exam. Since the start of KEAM 2020 state-level engineering entrance exam, the CEE Kerala and Kerala State Government have been facing criticism for holding the examination despite the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the state. Going by the estimates shared by CEE Kerala, a total of 88000 students have appeared for the exam across the state. The examination was conducted on July 16, 2020.
No Social Distancing, Precautionary Guidelines Followed?
Since the start of KEAM 2020 examination, there have been multiple reports on social media showcasing complete disregard for social distancing and any other precautionary guidelines that were prescribed by the state government to curb spread of Coronavirus. Reports suggested that that the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) exam was held without proper social distancing measures or any precautionary guidelines being followed at the exam centres. In fact, Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had also tweeted a photograph showing a crowd of students and parents outside a KEAM Examination Centre, gathered together without any social distancing.
Case Filed Against 600 for flouting Social Distancing Guidelines
As per a PTI report, the state government has now filed a case against over 600 people, including students and parents, for not adhering to the COVID-19 health protocol in public space. The case was filed after an image showing a crowd of students and parents went viral on social media platforms as well as were published in local newspapers.
