A large number of teachers were left disappointed on Thursday after a letter of Assistant Commissioner Finance, KVS. The letter dated 22.04.2019, in reference to the Ministry of HRD stated that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has now decided to stop the retirement and death gratuity to NPS (National Pension) holders. The death & retirement gratuity and provisional family pension, in terms of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972, will not be payable to NPS holder with effect from 30.04.2019 till further order.

According to Priyavrat Chikhara, National General Secretary of KV PSS (Central School Progressive Teachers Association) all the 25 regions in their zone have received this letter on May 16. The letter said that those employees who fall under the National Pension System, KVS will not give them the benefit of retirement and death gratuity.

KVS organization's Additional Commissioner, UN Khwade, said that the decision was taken on the guidelines of HRD. However, teachers who joined before 2004 and getting Old Pension Scheme will not be affected, If any person retire or dies in the middle, then their family will receive gratuity.

Many teachers have written about this decision on social media. Some wrote that they got this gift in return of providing the best result in CBSE board exams 2019. In this year, 98.54 percent students have passed their board exams and set a record of highest passing percentage of board exams. Obviously teachers associated with KVS have a big role behind good results. In CBSE Class 12 Results 2019, KV Schools recorded all-time high success ratio of 98.54%, followed by JNV Schools which secured 96.62%. According to the official numbers shared by the KVS, a total of 64519 students from 948 KVS schools had appeared for the Class 12 Board Exam of CBSE Board. Out of this, 63277 students cleared the exam with flying colours, registering a stellar success rate of 98.54%.
