KVYP Exam 2021 Postponement Update: As per the latest updates, the exam conducting body has released an official notification, stating that Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVYP) has been postponed till further notice. Following the Madras High Court order regarding the postponement of the KVPY Exam 2021, the exam conducting body released the official notification stating the same. As per the notice on the official website - "The Honourable High Court of Madras, Madurai bench stayed the KVPY Aptitude Test scheduled on November 07, 2021. We regret to inform you that, the KVPY Aptitude Test will not be held on November 07, 2021." Further updates will be released later.
Earlier, the High Court ordered the postponement of the exam while hearing a petition regarding regional language concerns with regards to national-level fellowship examination in science. Therefore, following the court’s order, an official update regarding postponement of the exam has been released at - kvpy.iisc.ac.in. The KVYP Exam 2021 is held by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Regional Language Concerns Raised in PIL
Recently, in a Public Interest Litigation filed by the exam authority had claimed that the KVYP, being a national-level fellowship exam, should be held in regional languages as well. The PIL claimed that holding a national-level exam only in English and Hindi, goes against the spirit of federalism and poses a grave disadvantage to the students who speak their native or regional language.
Why did Court Order postponement of Exam?
While hearing the PIL on Monday, a Madras HC Bench comprising of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice M. Duraiswamy directed the Central Govt to hold the exam consider conducting the examination in multiple Indian languages. However, in response to this, the Central Government informed the court that doing so was not possible due to scarcity of adequate personnel to assess answers in various languages.

In response to this, the Madras High Court noted that because of the lack of available staff members, a national-level exam shouldn’t be held in a way that non-English and non-Hindi speaking aspirants at a disadvantage.
