MHA introduces PG diploma programmes in security management, victimology, cyber crimes

The Ministry of Home Affiars has introduced new PG Diploma programmes in security management, victimology, and cyber crimes at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi. Check details here

The Ministry of Home Affairs is set to launch three postgraduate programmes in advances areas of security management, Victimology and Victim assistance and Cyber Crimes and law from the academic year 2019-20. The postgraduate diploma programmes which span for a duration of a year will be affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. The classes will commence tentatively from next month onwards in the MHA run Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science at Rohini in Delhi. With a total intake for each programme at 25 (20 seats for open category students and 5 for in-service government officers). The students will also be provided with hostel facilities within the institute.

According to an official from the Home Ministry, all the three programmes will be helpful in managing the criminal justice system by providing specialized and trained task force.  The curriculum for the course is a mixture of both theoretical and practical knowledge which will cover aspects required in the field. The courses will be taught by academicians and experts from the fields as well as non-government sectors.

The postgraduate diploma in security management is developed on the basis of inputs from industry experts. The programme will help the students to access careers in national security, corporate security, defense, government, and policing and law enforcement.

The postgraduate diploma in Victimology and Victim Assistance covers the mainstream subjects of victimology and Victims in the criminal justice system. This programme will help the students to pursue careers in NGO’s, research and academic organizations and victim support centres.

The postgraduate diploma in Cyber Crime and Law will cover the different types of Cyber cromes committees against individuals, organizations or even women and children. The programme will also cover the concepts of digital forensics. This course will help the students to plan their careers around the field of cybercrime investigation and also cyber forensics.
