Mumbai Schools Reopening: As per the updates, schools in Mumbai will reopen from tomorrow, 15th December 2021. The schools will start for classes 1 to 7 in urban areas. With this, BMC will likely share its decision on school reopening guidelines today. Earlier, The reopening of schools was delayed from 1st December 2021 due to the Omicron threat.
Schools Reopening Guidelines
As per media reports, the officials concerned with the developments on reopening of Mumbai schools mentioned that a decision on school reopening guidelines will be taken keeping in mind the health and welfare of students. However, till now, no official communication has been received by BMC.
Decision Awaited From Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)
Mumbai Schools have been waiting for a decision from BMC. Since Maharashtra reported a few Omicron cases over the last few days, some people suspected that there might be a change in the City schools reopening order. However, since nothing was said by the officials concerned, schools are continuing with tomorrow's date.
Mumbai Schools reopening was initially supposed to begin from 1st December 2021 as back then, Maharashtra Government had given its nod for schools to reopen in the state. However, BMC took the final call for Mumbai Schools and decided to defer it to 15th December due to the Omicron threat.
Mumbai School Reopening for Senior Classes
Mumbai Schools reopening was initially allowed for senior classes only. However, with schools reopening now for classes 1 to 7 in urban areas and classes 1 to 4 in rural areas, many students will be able to get back to the brick-and-mortar environment of learning. Students and stakeholders are advised to stay in touch with their schools for any further updates.
Mumbai Schools To Submit Reports Regarding Preparation
Earlier, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked all schools to finish making arrangements and ensure that the staff is vaccinated, ahead of the reopening. Mumbai Schools would also reopen for classes 1 to 4 in rural areas along with the schools in urban areas. As per the SOPs and guidelines released for school reopening, all the teaching and non-teaching staff must be vaccinated before coming to campus.
