The Odisha state government has decided to close down the schools, colleges, and universities in the state today owing to the Odisha Bandh. The decision to close down all the educational institutions in the state was taken in order to ensure the safety of the students in the six-hour state-wide shutdown called by the state protesting against the rising fuel prices.
Institutions closed on February 16 as well
The Odisha School and Mass Education Minister SR Dash stated that the technical institutions and industrial training centres will also not open today. The minister while speaking to the media stated that the state government has decided to shut all the educational institutions keeping in mind the safety of the students during the state-wide band. Classes will also not be conducted on February 16, 2021, for Saraswati puja.
The Odisha state government has also announced that the institutions under the Higher Education and Skill Development Departments will remain closed today and the government has also advised the employees to reach their work pace before 9:30 AM today.
Schools Reopening in Odisha
The Odisha state government had reopened the schools in the state from February 8, 2021, for the students from class 9 and 11 under strict guidelines issued by the School Department. The classes will be conducted from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM six weeks a day. The classes will be conducted until April 30, 2021. Three classes will be conducted each day in two hours.
Schools for the students from classes 10 and 12 were reopened in the state a month ago on January 8 keeping in mind the board examinations. The classes were conducted from January 8, 2021, to April 26, 2021, while the classes for Class 12 will be held until April 28, 2021.
