
To embark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, PM Narendra Modi today inaugurated the tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the world’s tallest statue, the 'Statue of Unity' that is built in the honour of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The country has been united together in order to celebrate this day. ‘Run for Unity’ marathon is taking place in different states of India. In Delhi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' marathon from Major Dhyanchand Stadium.
On the occasion of Sardar Vallabai Patel Jayanti, the country is celebrating the unity that lies within them. District Youth Coordinator, SR Deb from Assam informed that that student from schools and colleges, members from Indian Red Cross Society, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Hailakandi Press Club, National Cadet Corps, National Social Service, and government officials and employees will take part in the rally.

10: 15 AM: The birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is also celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) to commemorate the legacy of India’s first Home Minister.
As per the media reports, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has taken part in the event from Odhisa while Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has participated from Chennai. Former five-time world boxing champion Mary Kom and gymnast Dipa Karmakar, the first Indian female gymnast in the history of the Commonwealth Games to win a bronze medal, also joined the marathon.
