Tamil Nadu state government has cancelled the arrear exams for all the college students this year except for the final year students who will be appearing for the arrear examinations. The decision to cancel the arrear exams was taken in the review meeting conducted with the Vice-Chancellor of the Universities in the state.
According to media reports, a statement was released by the Tamil Nadu state Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy, in which it has been stated that all the students except for the final year students who have paid the fee for the arrear exams are exempted from the exams based on the demand from the students and the recommendations by the expert panel. The marks secured on these exams will be provided based on the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission, UGC, and All India Council for Technical Education AICTE.
Apart from the fi\nal year students including the students studying BA, B.Sc, MA, M.Sc, BE/B.Tech/B.Arch, ME/M. Tech, MCA, and Diploma courses have already been promoted to the next academic year.
These students were promoted based on the weightage of internal marks which is 70 percent and 30 percent from the previous semester. The state government has also exempted all the undergraduate students of the first and second years who are pursuing Polytechnic, Arts, and Science along with those in the first, second, and third years of the engineering courses from exams this year due to the increasing COVID-19 cases in the state.
