Telangana Schools, College Closure Extended: With COVID-19 situation still quite serious across the state, Telangana Government has ordered closure of all schools and colleges until 30th January 2022. According to the official order, the state government has extended Sankranthi Holidays for all educational institutions until the end of the month keeping in mind the safety of the students. According to the earlier guidelines issued by the state government, schools and colleges were to remain closed only until 16th January; however, with the situation still worrisome, the state government has extended the closure period further.
Decision by Telangana CM KC Rao at Review Meeting
The decision was announced by Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar following a high-level meeting with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. At the meeting, Telangana CM was briefed about the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the state, following which he prioritized the safety of the students and ordered closure of educational institutions until 30th January 2022. One of the key concerns discussed at the meeting was safety of the students, especially considering that majority of them are still unvaccinated. The state government has rolled out the children's vaccination plan for 15-18 year children, however, it will take some time for it to get completed.
Online Classes to Continue
While Schools and Colleges in Telangana have been ordered to shut-down for offline or physical classes, the state government has permitted them to continue the virtual learning for students. The official order in this regards says that Schools and Colleges in the state would continue with the format of online classes till the mentioned date or further orders. Educational Institutions have been asked to follow the same COVID-19 guidelines and SOPs prescribed for previous period. However, an official confirmation and detailed orders are still awaited.
