Haryana School Closed Update: With COVID-19 cases rapidly increasing in the state, Haryana Government has decided to ensure 100% vaccination for Children in the age group of 15 to 18 age group. In order to motivate students and their parents for vaccination, the state government has ordered schools not to allow unvaccinated students in the age group of 15 to 18 years, on the school campus when they reopen later in the month. The news has been confirmed by Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij, who has urged parents to get their wards vaccinated to ensure their protection from COVID.
Decision at COVID-19 Review Meeting Chaired by Health Minister
Recently, Haryana State Government had ordered all schools to shut down for offline or physical classes owing to the massive surge in COVID-19 cases. The state also reported several Omicron cases, which led to immediate closure of schools in the state to safeguard children and school students against the infection. Recently, the State Health Minister held a high-level meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in the state and asked officials to ramp-up children’s vaccination drive in the state. It was during this meeting, that Health Minister Anil Vij urged all the parents of children between 15 to 18 years of age to get their wards vaccinated at the earliest. He also added that, when schools reopen, only those students who have been inoculated against COVID-19.
Earlier, the state government had set an ambitious target of vaccinating all children in the age group of 15 to 18 years by 10th January 2022. However, due to school closures the children’s vaccination drive has not been completed as per plan and is being extended beyond this deadline. The children’s vaccination drive in the state was launched on 3rd January 2022 under which the state government plans to inoculate nearly 15 lakh children in Haryana between 15-18 years of age.
