Tripura Government has decided to introduce a new scheme called ‘Super 30’ from the academic year 2020-21. The scheme is being launched in order to help the students of the state to crack the engineering and medical entrance examinations conducted.
Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the scheme is set to fund 30 students from Tripura from the science stream to get coaching at Kota-based coaching centres in order to crack the engineering and medical examinations every year.
The minister while speaking to the media at the Civil Secretariat said that the Tripura state government stresses the education sector the most and this new scheme will help the students from the science stream in the state to take up coaching from Kota based coaching centres of their preference. He also added that these students will be selected on the basis of merit and reservation policy in selecting the students will also be followed.
The Super 30 scheme will be launched on a pilot basis which will involve Rs. 2.40 lakh coaching fee for each of the students on an average annually and in the first year, they will invest Rs. 72 Lakh while Rs. 1.44 crores will be invested in the subsequent year.
The minister said that if provided with the score the students can score better to get admission in the top colleges for engineering and medical studies in the country.
The Tripura Board saw a pass percentage of 80.51 percent in the class 12 examinations while the Science stream had a pass percentage of 88.85 percentages.
Super 30 was an initiative taken by Patna based mathematician Anand Kumar which took up the coaching of 30 students belonging to the underprivileged sections of the society. Students who were provided coaching through the initiative of Super 30 have cracked the top engineering entrance examinations in the country over the years.
