The university plans to welcome its first batch of students in August 2027. Admissions will be offered across several disciplines, with the initial programmes expected to focus on business, computing, engineering and analytics.
CU Denver Hyderabad Campus
The Hyderabad campus will be CU Denver’s first degree-granting campus in India. The university’s entry into the country comes at a time when more global institutions are looking at India as a destination for higher education.
The move is also in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages internationalisation of higher education and provides a framework for foreign universities to establish campuses in India.
CU Denver plans to build its academic offerings around areas that are relevant to students and the changing needs of the job market. More programmes could be added from the second year onwards, subject to the required approvals.
Students at the Hyderabad campus are expected to get a mix of classroom learning and practical, experiential opportunities. The university also plans to encourage interdisciplinary learning and give students exposure to its wider academic network in the US.
Admissions To Begin In 2027
CU Denver is developing the Hyderabad campus with Emeritus as its strategic joint venture partner in India. Emeritus will support non-academic aspects of setting up and expanding the campus.
Established in 1973, CU Denver has around 14,000 students and more than 100,000 alumni across over 100 countries. It is classified as an R1 research institution in the US.
With the new campus, CU Denver will join the growing list of foreign universities establishing a presence in India. For students, the Hyderabad campus will provide an opportunity to pursue a degree from a US university while studying in India.
