West Bengal School Reopening News: On Tuesday, it is first meeting at Saltlake Shiksha Niketan, the West Bengal Private Schools Association decided to seek a meeting with the West Bengal Chief Minister and the state Education Minister. The WBPSA in its meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee and Education Minister Partha Chatterjee will request the Government to allow for reopening of campuses in the state that have been closed since March. Principals of more than 100 schools along with management members also discussed the parents’ agitation and decided to form the roadmap so as to reach out to them.
WB School Reopening Date
A certain School Principal was quoted saying that while states such as Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Assam have given a go-ahead for the physical reopening of schools, the situation in West Bengal is different. He said that the earliest possibility of resuming physical classes in the state is December 2020 onwards with a final call to be taken by the Chief Minister. Adding that the prolonged closure is affecting students’ progress for the Board exams and for the WB Class 10 and 12 Board exams to be conducted on time, students are required to attend practical classes and schools also need to hold doubt clearing sessions. The State Board has not announced any reduction on the syllabus for WB Class 10 and 12 Board exams as yet.
WB School Reopening SOPs
The meeting held at Saltlake Shiksha Niketan also witnessed discussion in regards to the implementation of the National Education Policy and the necessary SOPs to be adopted before schools can physically reopen. Another school Principal present in the meeting said that while the institutes will abide by the Centre’s and State’s guideline, many school authorities are of the opinion that parents should be invited beforehand to look into the safety and infrastructure measures. Nabarun De, Principal, Central Modern School said that while the SOPs are ready, the final order is awaited and necessary arrangements will be made within 4-5 days. He also said that initially, the proposal will be to reopen the schools for senior classes.
