National Tourism University could soon have a campus or a learning centre in Agra in Uttar Pradesh, announced the Union Minster for Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma. Earlier the Lok Sabha member from Mathura, Hema Malini had requested the minister to consider shifting the university to anywhere between Mathura and Agra that has a flourishing tourism industry. The places according to Hema Malini are rich in culture and contain rich historical evidences of the nation. The formation of National Tourism University on any of the location could enhance the value of tourism in these places even more.
According to reports from the tourism ministry, the considerations over the suggestions are on and there would be a decision taken over the matter of constructing a new campus or a learning centre in Agra for National Tourism University soon. The ministry is looking for all the factors that would be necessary for establishment of the university in the Agra region.
The minister has given orders to the Archaeological Survey of India to make sure that the debris and heaps of garbage which have been piled up on the Taj Heritage corridor must get clean within a month. The orders have reached the office to clean up the 22 hectares of riven bed that lies between the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal to get a cleanup soon. Both the sites are registered as World Heritage Sites and are needed to be taken care of and maintained, said the ministry.
