All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in 1956 under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi, India. It is a medical college and teaching hospital and will start 6 new centers under the Pradhan Mantri Swastha Suraksha Yojana at Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.
It invites application for the Entrance Examination for admission to the course mentioned below for the year 2012
Name of the Course and Number of Seats for Admission to MBBS Course in AIIMS
MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): 77 seats in Delhi (37 General/ 11 SC/ 5 ST/ 19 OBC/ 5 Foreign Nationals)
Note: From August 2012, Six New AIIMS like Institutions (viz: Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar) will start with an intake of 50 students each. The reservation policy followed will be 7.5% ST, 15% SC and 27% OBC. For Indian Nationals, 3% reservation for Orthopaedic physically handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available
Duration of the Course: 5½ academic years including one year's compulsory internship

- Opening Date for Online Registration of Application: 5 March 2012
- Last Date for applying On-line and closing of Registration: 2 April 2012 (up to 5 pm)

- Date of the Entrance Examination: 1 June 2012 (Friday)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to MBBS Course in AIIMS
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed (10 + 2) from Science background with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects with 60 % (50% for reserved categories) in aggregate. Appearing candidates can also apply.
- Age Limit (as on 31 December 2012): Minimum 17 years
Selection Procedure: The candidates will be selected on the basis of the Entrance Examination conducted by AIIMS. The selected candidates then have to undergo a medical examination.
The Competitive Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. The distribution of questions is as follows:
- Physics: 60
- Chemistry: 60
- Biology (Botany and Zoology): 60
- General Knowledge: 20
How to Apply for Admission to MBBS Course in AIIMS
A candidate can submit application only Online through Internet only. Visit www.aiimsexams.org , read the Prospectus, Help Manual and other details carefully and follow the instructions given therein. The candidate can pay the application fee through a Challan Form (to be downloaded from internet while applying on-line) in any branch of State Bank of India. Transaction / Processing Fee as applicable will be payable to the Bank by the candidates.
Application Fee: The Application fee is Rs 1000 (Rs 800 in case of SC/ST candidates). The Prospectus is available on AIIMS website and must be read carefully by the applicants before applying.
