CBSE had conducted the Science paper of Class 10th on 13 March. Students started writing the exam at 10:30 AM and were given three hours’ duration to finish it. After Maths, this was the second major paper for class 10 students under CBSE Board Exams 2019. After the exam got over, most of the class 10 students came out of the examination centres with a smile on their faces. Check the format followed in the CBSE Class 10 Science Paper 2019:

The question paper consisted of 27 questions divided into five sections A, B, C, D and E.

There was no overall choice. However, internal choices were provided for some questions in Sections B, C, D and E. Students were required to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.

CBSE Class 10 Science Paper 2019 was completely based on the format followed in the latest CBSE Sample for Class 10 Science.

CBSE Class 10 Science Paper 2019: Students' reaction after the exam

CBSE Class 0 students after taking their Science exam, answered to a few general queries about today’s paper.  

  • Was the paper difficult, moderate or easy – Students say the paper was easy and they were able to finish it on time.
  • Which section in paper was the toughest – Most of the students found Section C to be the toughest.
  • In which section it took long time to solve the questions – In Sections C and D
  • How was the Section – E which had Practical Based Questions – Questions were little tricky but not difficult.
  • What about the numerical questions - Most of the numerical questions were from Light and Electricity chapters and they were all easy.
  • Was the paper based on Class 10 Science NCERT Textbook - All the questions were entirely based on NCERT
  • Did the paper contain any questions beyond the CBSE Science syllabus – No, all the question in the paper were from the latest CBSE 10th Science syllabus
  • Average range of expected marks (out of 80): 60 to 70 Marks

Overall, after the Maths paper, CBSE Science paper again comes as a relief for class 10 students. Some of the Class 10 students even found the CBSE Science paper 2019 easier than the previous year.

What Experts have to say on CBSE Class 10 Science Exam 2019?

According to experts the Class 10 Science paper was overall easy besides involving two to three tricky questions. However, questions from practical section were relatively difficult as compared to that from theoretical section. However, all the questions were solvable if one has studied the NCERT book thoroughly. Students can easily score 70 – 80 percent markc in the exam.

For the CBSE class 10 students who are taking their first board examinations, board introduced a few changes in CBSE Class 10 Exam 2019. These alterations in examination rules were made in the interest of CBSE Class 10 students and will help them perform good in exams.

(i) Relaxation in passing criteria: Overall 33% marks enough to pass a subject

CBSE has extended the passing criteria relaxation for the Class 10 examination, according to which candidates appearing for Class 10 examination in 2019 onwards will have to secure overall 33 percent marks (internal and external included) in the subjects to be eligible to pass that subject.

(ii) Internal Choices increased by 33% in CBSE Class 10 Exams

For the CBSE Board Exams 2019, there is an increase in total number of internal choices provided in the CBSE Class 10 Science question paper. An increase in the internal choice of approximately 33 % has been deployed for different types of question in CBSE Science Paper 2019.

Next Important Exams for CBSE Class 10:

After the Science exam, students who have opted for Sanskrit as their third language will have two days gap. On March 16, students will write their Sanskrit exam. Then, again after a gap of two day, there will be the exam of second language anguage subject, Hindi on 19 March. On 23 March there will be English paper. Social Science exam will be the next big and also the last exam for class 10 students on 22 March.
