What is CBSE Compartment Marksheet?

The CBSE Compartment Marksheet is an official document issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for class 10 and  class 12 students who have appeared for and passed the compartment or supplementary exams held in July month. For more clarity on the CBSE Compartment Marksheet, read out the following inputs:

CBSE Marksheet (Regular): This is the marksheet that students receive after passing all subjects in the main board exams, generally conducted in February-March months. This CBSE marksheet reflects the marks obtained in each subject.

CBSE Compartment Marksheet: When a student fails in one or two subjects, he/she can appear for the compartment exam for that subject. If the student passes the compartment exam, a separate marksheet is issued for that subject. The compartment marksheet typically mentions that the student passed the subject in the compartment exam and usually includes the marks obtained in that particular subject only.

Consolidated Marksheet: After passing the compartment exam, the student's overall result is updated to include the marks obtained in the compartment exam. A new marksheet is issued which includes all the subjects and the updated marks obtained in the subject for which the students appeared in the compartment exam.

What is the difference between CBSE Original Marksheet and CBSE Compartment Marksheet?

Students often think about how the marksheet obtained after clearing the CBSE compartment exam would affect their academic future. They are worried if it is going to affect their eligibility for admission to next academic courses or job prospects.

It must be noted that there is no significant difference in the marksheet obtained at first attempt and the one received after clearing the compartment exam.

The only difference in the two marksheets is reflected in the the date of issue. The marksheet of the CBSE Main Board Exam is issued in May or June while the CBSE Compartment Marksheet is issued in August. Overall, the format of the compartment marksheet remains similar to the original marksheet.
