With intent to promote the reading habit among children, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will host the popular Delhi World Book Fair for this year. The Delhi World Book Fair 2014 will be held by the board from 15 February to 23 February 2014.

By the good worth of World Book Fair, the CBSE endeavors to motivate teachers, school librarians and parents for encouraging reading habits among students. As per a statement from the board, reading would help students develop holistically, inculcate life skills and get prepared to face the professional world.

The CBSE chairman, Vineet Joshi, said that with computer-generated games, electronic devices and programmes battling for children's attention, educators and parents need to give children every opportunity to explore the wonders of the written word.

According to the CBSE’s official statement, some studies show that youngsters who read daily perform better in all areas of the school curriculum than others. Reading for pleasure is more important to a child's development than other forms of reading in classrooms, as asserted in the statement.
