Combined Defence Services (I) Examination 2012

A Combined Defence Services Examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 12 February 2012.

Name of the Course and Number of Vacancies

• Indian Military Academy, Dehradun (134th Course commencing in January 2013): 250 vacancies
• Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala (Course commencing in January 2013): 40 vacancies (2 for Hydro and 38 for Executive- General Service)
• Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) (Training Course commencing in January 2013): 32 vacancies
• Officers Training Academy, Chennai (97th SSC Course (for Men) commencing in April 2013): 175 vacancies
• Officers Training Academy, Chennai (11th SSC Women (Non Technical) Course commencing in April 2011): 30 vacancies

• Opening date for online registration: 29 October 2011
• Last date for online registration: 28 November 2011 till 11.59 pm
• Date of written examination: 12 February 2012
• Declaration of Written Examination Result: May 2012

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• For Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy- Degree of a recognized university or equivalent
• For Indian Naval Academy- Degree in Engineering for CDSE and Degree in Engineering or BSc (with Physics or Mathematics) for NCC entry.
• For Air Force Academy- Degree of a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

Candidates who are studying in final year degree course can also apply for the examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination to reach the army headquarters.

Age Limit, Marital Status, and Gender

• IMA- Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1989 and not later than 1 January 1994 only are eligible.
• For Indian Naval Academy- Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1991 (2 January, 1989 in case of NCC Naval Wing ‘C' certificate holders) and not later than 1 January 1994 only are eligible.
• For Air Force Academy- Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January 1990 and not later than 1 January 1994 only are eligible.
• For Officers Training Academy (SSC course for Men) - Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than 2 January 1988 and not later than 1 January 1994 only are eligible.
• For Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical course) - Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born but not earlier than 2 January 1988 and not later than 1 January 1994.

Application Fee: Application fee for General and OBC Candidate is Rs 100 and no fee will be charged from SC/ ST/ Female candidates.

Selection Procedure: The Competitive examination comprises of the following tests

• Written Examination
  
  a) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy

          b) For Admission to Officers' Training Academy

• SSB Interview for intelligence and personality test
