As per a report filed by Quacquarelli Symonds compilers of the QS World University Rankings, Delhi has been ranked at the 15th while Mumbai has been placed at the 30th rank for the title of most affordable city in the world for students.
The performance of a city is ranked on six composite indicators affordability, desirability, employer activity, student mix (international students), university ranking and for the first time the opinion of students as in their idea of the perfect city. The cities of Mumbai and Delhi showed considerable improvement in employer activity factor.
The reputed organization published a list of top 100 student friendly cities in the world for the year 2017 recently. Delhi and Mumbai secured 86th and 85th rank (overall) in the list respectively. It is due to massive development and urbanization of the two major cities of India in Mumbai and Delhi that it has seen an increase in their desirability score but due to other factors such as pollution, quality of life etc they are still at the bottom of the rankings. Mumbai is placed at the 90th position while Delhi at 91st.
