Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the university would now enroll students via e-Mitras. Students can visit their nearest e-Mitra Kiosks to submit their fees amount of the documents related to the admission procedure.

The Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which the university would now enroll students via e-Mitras. The MoU has been signed between the state government agency Rajcomp Info Services Limited, Jaipur (RISL) and the VMOU to take action regarding the matter. The admission process through various e-Mitra kiosks is expected to kick start in 10 days’ time.

According to the Vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak of the VMOU, the admission process becomes tiresome for some students who live in the outskirts and have to face hardships due to the continuous need of them to visit the far off banks to deposit the fees of the university. Thus e-Mitras would provide the option to students to go through the admission process smoothly as there would be almost 12,000 e-Mitra kiosks installed in villages and towns which would help the students to take admissions in the university.

Students can visit their nearest e-Mitra Kiosks to submit their fees amount of the documents related to the admission procedure. The e-Mitra Kiosks would then scan the original documents and submit the application form online by giving a fee of Rs. 30 per form.

The e-Mitras would charge a nominal fee as service charge with every certain amount of fees paid by the students. For every Rs. 2000, service charge of five rupees would be charged. Similarly, Rs 10 for every Rs 2000 to Rs 5000, Rs 15 for Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 and Rs 20 for fees above Rs 20000 would be charged by the e-Mitra counters. After attaching the documents to the university online portal, the kiosks would send the required forms and fee slips to document the fair transaction of amount. The printout of the submitted form would be provided to the students. Students then would need to send the form to the university along with their supporting documents. The entire process would cost around Rs. 50 to 60 to the students. The students can use debit/credit cards, internet and mobile banking for the deposit of their fees.
