The European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) organized by ambassador of European Union of India, Joao Cravinhoon was inaugurated on 05 December in Kolkata. The fair was organized for the students of east and north-east India so that they can avail studying opportunities in Europe and end up working in EU after completion of their courses. The students would get to know about various scholarships and courses available at different EU colleges and universities so that they can choose their own career opportunities. The Visa rules for EU have been simplified by both the governments and thus it has become favorable for the students to visit there and study at the best of institutes.
Joao Cravinhoon said that India has the second highest number of internationally mobile students, after China, travelling abroad for tertiary level education, while Europe is well known as destination for international students for quality education. Through this fair, we hope to bring first-hand knowledge and practical insights about the opportunities available in Europe. EHEF will also act as a platform to foster institutional contacts between European and Indian universities.
Under Erasmus Mundus Scholarship programme funded by the EU between the years 2004 to 2013; over 3400 Indian students have got benefited and have received scholarships to study in various EU member states. 75 European institutes took part in the EHEF at Kolkata.
