About the Institute: Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, also known as GITAM, is a multi-disciplinary university that offers varied courses in areas such as engineering, management and pharmacy.
Year of Establishment: 1980
Purpose: An online UGT is conducted each year at more than 20 test centers across India for admission to GITAM’s B.Tech, B.Arch and 5-Year Integrated (B.Tech+M.Tech) programmes.
Cost of Form: Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 600 for women candidates); Available at designated branches of Union Bank of India and Indian Bank.
Eligibility Criteria: Class 12 Pass with a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Central/State Board or its equivalent grade in the qualifying examination in a single attempt.
Date of Examination: 16 April to 5 May, 2011
Deadline for Application Submission: 15 March, 2011
Selection Process: Each candidate is supposed to take an entrance test
Duration of Paper: 2 hours
No. of Questions: 100 (Physics and Chemistry – 30 questions each; Mathematics/Biology – 40 questions.)
Type of Questions: MCQs (with four options per question, only one being correct)
Any Negative Marking? Yes. +3 is awarded for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect one. There are no marks for questions not attempted.
On completion of the test, the computer will display the result in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score.
Based on the GAT 2011 test, the merit position of the candidate for admission will be determined.
