    The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification on 25 may 2018 saying that only 50% candidates have downloaded the Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 till date. The candidates who have not downloaded their e-Admit Cards are advised to do so urgently to avoid any last minute rush. The Civil Services Preliminary Exam is commonly called as the IAS Prelims among the IAS aspirants. The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) 2018, on June 3, 2018 all over India.

    The candidates who appear for the IAS Prelims Exam have to download the admit card and carry the print out of it as they will not be issued a physical copy.

    Another important notice as stated in the UPSC notification is the reporting time for the exam. The morning shift for the IAS Prelims Exam 2018 will commence from 9.30 A.M. and the reporting time is 10 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the Examination i.e. 09:20 A.M. This is somewhat unusual on the part of the UPSC giving the data regarding the IAS Prelims Admit Card download.

    The IAS Prelims Consist of two objective type question papers. The IAS Prelims Exam 2018 will be conducted in two sessions that is morning and evening session. The morning session starts at 9.30 A.M. and the Evening session starts at 2.00 P.M. Each session is about two hours. There are two papers in the IAS Prelims Exam – General Studies I and General Studies-II.

    The General Studies I consist of 100 questions related to General Studies subjects such as History, Geography, Indian Economy, Indian Polity, General Science and Technology, Environment and Ecology and Current Affairs. The marks obtained in this paper are considered in the preparing the IAS Prelims Result.

    The General Studies II is only of qualifying in nature, but it is essential to obtain qualifying marks in the General Studies II in order to pass the IAS Prelims Exam. The General Studies II, is commonly called as the Aptitude paper among the IAS aspirants and most of the Hindi medium students take this qualifying paper very seriously.

    This came in the light of the recent CBI inquiry of the SSC CGL Tier II paper leak. The UPSC wants to ensure that all the candidates must reach the examination centre as per the schedule time. The figures also indicate that there will be the last minute rush in the IAS Prelims admit card download because there is only one week left for the IAS Prelims Exam 2018.

    The exam is conducted annually by the UPSC in two stages — IAS Preliminary and IAS Main Exam. The IAS Main exam has two stages - IAS Main (written) and the Personality Test. The whole exercise is done to select the officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Central Civil Services Officers.

    Step 1 – Log on to the official website for the UPSC (upsc.gov.in)
    Step 2 – Click on the notification for the admit card of the UPSC Civil Service Prelims 2018
    Step 3 – Enter your details in the fields provided and submit them
    Step 4 – Download the admit card and take a print out for further reference
