In the temporary premises of IIM-Nagpur an officer has been appointed to set up administrative sections by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, which would be mentoring the newly launched IIM in Nagpur.
IIT Nagpur became operational last week and would initiate operating out of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) campus until its permanent campus comes up at the 200 acre area at Mouza Dahegaon in non-SEZ area in Mihan. According to sources close to VNIT, IIM-A has also decided to come up with a full-fledged website for the IIM- Nagpur. This website would contain all the necessary information about the institute from which the students could get an insight of the same.
The Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry has given the responsibility of mentoring the newly launched IIM Nagpur to IIM Ahmedabad and look after the administrative procedure of the institute for the academic session that is scheduled to begin from the month of July. Till the new campus for IIM-N comes up it would act as the sub-centre of IIM-A.
According to VNIT Board of Governors (BoG) Chairman Vishram Jamadar, the ‘project administrator’ post for IIM-N is being given to Lt. Col (Retd) Makarand Alur . He further had meetings with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for finalizing on the designs of various classrooms, laboratories and libraries to come up at the new campus. According to the chairman the first round of faculties and non-teaching staffs would be provided from IIM-A, till the new appointments are made for IIM-N.
