IMS and Sum Hospital Conducts Health Camp on World Health Day
NSS volunteers from the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of the SOA (Deemed to be University), conducted a health camp in a primary school at Shyampur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Health Day on Saturday.
Bhubaneswar, April 7: NSS volunteers from the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of the SOA (Deemed to be University), conducted a health camp in a primary school at Shyampur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Health Day on Saturday.
Doctors from different departments of IMS and SUM Hospital examined over 100 children and prescribed medicines for those having ailments.
Dr. P.K. Mishra (Pediatrics), Dr. Anil Kumar Panda (Skin and VD), Dr. Sashikanta Sethi and Dr. Debsruti Nayak (Dental) and Dr. Pragati Jain and Dr. Sarat Nayak (Ophthalmology) examined the children.
The Health Camp was conducted in collaboration with Rotary Club, Kharabela Nagar, in the presence of Dean, IMS, Dr. Gangadhar Sahu and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Pushparaj Samantasinhar. The President of Rotary Club, Kharabela Nagar, Dr. Kishore Chandra Swain felicitated Dr. Sahu and Dr. Samantasinhar on the occasion.
Twenty five volunteers of the NSS along with Program Officers Dr. Saurjya Ranjan Das and Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo conducted the camp.
Focussing on the theme of the World Health Day this year—Universal Health Coverage- Everyone Everywhere-- a public awareness rally was taken out earlier in which doctors, nurses, para-medical workers and others participated.
A training program on Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) was conducted at the IMS and SUM Hospital on the eve of World Health Day on Friday in which interns and nursing personnel received instructions. A quiz program was conducted by the Community Medicine department to mark the occasion.
