Indian Air Force Notified Recruitment for Commissioned Officers in Meteorology Branch 2014

    Indian Air Force (IAF) invited applications from Female candidates for grant of Short Service Commission and from male candidates for grant of Permanent/ Short Service Commission in Meteorology Branch. Interested candidates should send their applications to the said authority on or before 21 March 2014 and for candidates residing in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep & Minicoy Islands , Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland and Mizoram can send their applications on or before 30 March 2014.

    Training scheduled commences: from First week of January 2015.

    1. Post: Commissioned Female Officer

    Department: Meteorology Branch

    a. No. 46 Short Service Commission (46 SSC) Course

    2. Post: Commissioned Male Officers

    Department: Meteorology Branch

    a. No. 137 Ground Duty Officer Course (137 GDOC) (Permanent Commission)

    b. No. 30 Short Service Commission (30 SSC) Course

    Permanent Commission: Selected candidates would continue to serve till the age of superannuation.

    Short Service Commission: Selected candidates would be appointed initially appointed for a period of ten years, extendable for four years, if required.

    Pay Scale: Pay Band of Rs. 15600 - 39100 per month with Grade Pay.

    Monthly Emoluments:  Rs. 57880 (approx) on completion of training

    Eligibility Criterion

    Age limit: (as on 1 January 2015)

    • Minimum: 20 years
    • Maximum: 25 years (candidate should be born between 2 January 1990 and 1 January 1995])

    [Upper age limit is relaxed up to 27 years for candidates with PhD qualification i.e. candidate should be born between 2 January 1988 and 1 January 1995]

    Educational Qualification: Post-Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Computer Applications/ Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geo-physics/ Environmental Biology

    Selection Procedure: Selection will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in Screening Test, Psychological Test, Group Tests and Interview.

    Candidates fulfilling the prescribed physical standards will be considered for recruitment.

    How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates should send their applications, in the prescribed format, along with copies of all relevant documents/ certificates, a stamped self-addressed envelope and two recent passport size colored photographs to “Post Bag No. 001, Nirman Bhawan Post Office, New Delhi -110106” by ordinary post so as to reach the concerned authority by the prescribed last date.

    On the envelope carrying the application, candidates should super-scribe “APPLICATION FOR METEOROLOGY BRANCH COURSES COMMENCING IN JANUARY 2015″.
