Indian Army issued notification for recruitment to 54 posts through NCC Special Entry Scheme 34th Course-Oct 2013 for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army. Interested unmarried / married male and unmarried female candidates and also Wards of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel can send their applications in the prescribed format till 28 February 2013.

Candidate should have served for minimum two academic years in the senior Division / Wing of N.C.C. and have obtained minimum B-Grade in C-Certificate Exam of NCC.
ii) For Ward of Battle Casualties of Army Personnel: Degree from a recognized University

Visual Standards: The minimum acceptable visual acuity are: Distant Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse eye 6/18, myopia of not more than minus 3.50 for men and 5.50 for women including astigmatism.
Physical Fitness Standards: Candidates are advised to achieve following standard before joining the Officers Training Academy (OTA), if finally selected:
(a) Running: 2.4 km in 15 minutes;
(b) Push Ups:13 Nos.
(c) Sit Ups: 25 Nos.
(d) Chin Ups: 6 Nos.
(e) Rope Climbing: 3-4 Meters.
Selection Process: Candidates will be shortlisted through screening of applications and on the basis of their Physical Standards, Visual Standards and Physical Fitness Standards at OTA followed by Group Tests, Psychological Tests, Interview and Medical Examination.
Shortlisted candidates will be detailed for SSB interview. On arrival at the Selection Centre the candidates will be administered stage-I of the two stages testing procedure. Candidates qualifying in stage-I will have to undergo Group Tests, Psychological Tests and Interview, which can take up to 5 days.
Candidates recommended by SSBs will be required to go through Medical Exam. Final selection will be made as per the order of merit subject to medical fitness and suitability in all other respects and number of vacancies available.
The merit list of the recommended candidates will be displayed at the reception of DG Recruiting and Indian Army website i.e. www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Travelling Allowance: Candidates appearing for SSB interviews for the first time for a particular type of commission shall be entitled for AC III Tier to and fro railway fare or bus fare including reservation -Cum-Sleeper Charges within the Indian Limits.
Training: The 49 weeks training at OTA Chennai is at Government’s expense. On successful completion of training, candidates will be granted commission in the rank of Lt. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out of Gentleman Cadets / Lady Cadets from OTA.
Probation: An officer will be on probation for a period of 6 months from the date of commission. If he / she is reported as unsuitable during the probationary period, his / her services will be terminated.
Personnel granted Short Service Commission are liable to serve anywhere in India and abroad.
Tenure of Engagement: Officers will be required to serve for ten years extendable by a further period of four years, subject to their performance been found fit for extension of tenure. Male Officers who are willing to continue services in Army after the expiry of 10 years in Short Service Commision may if eligible and suitable in all respects be considered for Grant of Permanent Commission in accordance with the relevant rules.
Stipend/Pay Scale/CTC: During training, candidates will be given a stipend of Rs.21000 p.m. (Rs.15600 as pay in Pay Band plus Grade Pay Rs.5400). On completion of training, Officers commissioned in the Rank of Lieutenant will be entitled to the pay in the Pay Band 3 of Rs.15600-39100 with Grade Pay of Rs.5400 and MSP of Rs.6000. The CTC for a Lieutenant would be approximately Rs.63725 per month.
Posting: The final allotment of Arms/service/Corps at the time of passing out will be the sole discretion of Integrated HQ, Min of Defence (Army).
How to Apply: Candidates can send their applications in the prescribed format along with all necessary documents to the nearest OC, NCC Unit from where NCC ‘C’ certificate has been issued. Those serving in Armed Forces can send their application duly counter- signed by Commanding Officer along with all necessary documents to the OC, NCC Unit from where NCC’ ‘C’ certificate has been issued.
All NCC Units will forward the applications to DDG, NCC of the concerned State. DDG, NCC States will process all applications and forward them to Direcrorate General NCC.

Candidates applying as Wards of Battle Casualties can send their applications along with required documents directly to ‘Dte Gen of Recruiting/ Rtg-6, NCC Entry, West Block-III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066’ by 22 February 2013.
All applications will be forwarded to Rtg. Directorate (NCC Entry) through HQ DG NCC. The NCC Units / Grp HQs will forward the applications to State Directorates who in turn will forward the same to HQ DG NCC.
Place of SSBs will be displayed on Army website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Candidates will not be allowed to live with parents / guardian.
Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at OTA.
Candidates who submit more than one application will be disqualified for this course as well as from applying for commission in the army in future.

University of Madras will award "Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies" to all cadets who successfully complete Pre-Commission Training at OTA, Chennai.
