Jamia Millia Islamia is in a mood to make a fresh attempt for holding elections to the student union .The university on 24 July 2012 told the court that the executive council accepted the recommendations of a six-member committee of academicians.
The committee believed that a renewed attempt should be made to provide a representative body to the students .Priorly, Jamia was not conducting the students union elections on the grounds that the atmosphere was not right despite several representations made in this regard before the administration.
The Jamia Students Union was dissolved six years ago, also Jamia has been charging fifty rupees annually from each student as the union fee, however with the committee coming clean on their part, good news seems to be just round the corner for students.
