JEE Main 2024 Paper Analysis: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 is being organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from January 24 to February 1, for Papers 2A, 2B, and 1. Today, on 31 January NTA is conducting its second last JEE Main 2024 Session 1 examination in two shifts, Shift 1 and 2. All the candidates who have appeared for the examinations present their views on the question paper. So, here we have brought to you the JEE Main 2024 January 31 Paper Analysis in detail. Students can check the difficulty review, topics covered in the question paper, key takeaways from today’s question paper, and a lot more details for upcoming aspirants and candidates who are going to appear for the exam on February 1. 

As we all know, JEE Main is a computer-based test which means that the exam is conducted online. In such examinations, candidates do not receive a physical question paper and answer sheet, instead, they have to take the exam on computers. Thus, the paper analysis is not based on the analysis of the question paper. It is merely based on the reactions and opinions of the candidates. We have also included expert’s views and opinions on the same. 

JEE Main 2024 Marking Scheme

By using the marking scheme attached below, students can calculate their final score after the release of the provisional answer key.

(a) For Multiple Choice Questions

  • All the correct answers will be rewarded 4 marks
  • All the incorrect answers will be marked as -1
  • All the unattempted or marked-for-review answers will be marked as 0
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. 
  • If none of the options were correct or if the question was wrong then 4 marks will be awarded to all the students irrespective of the fact that they attempted the question or not

(b) For Numerical Value Questions

  • All the correct answers will be rewarded 4 marks
  • All the incorrect answers will be marked as -1
  • All the unattempted or marked-for-review answers will be marked as 0
  • If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • Candidates are advised to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

  • Maximum questions were from 12th syllabus
  • Easy, doable questions from Physics. Mainly formula-based and PYQ-based questions
  • In chemistry, theoretical questions were asked. It is important to read chapters and revise formulas thoroughly. Equal weightage from organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry
  • Many questions from Vector 3D have been asked in the Maths section
  • No major questions from the deleted syllabus were asked
  • Overall question paper was formula-based. Direct questions from all the subjects were asked. 
  • Read the NCERT Summary and revise formulas properly before the exams (student's advice)
  • The question paper was a bit tough in comparison to other shifts

Physics - In both the shifts, formula-based questions were asked. 

Chemistry- In shift 1, inorganic chemistry was at focus. Most of the questions were asked from the inorganic part. Students have said that d block, f block, and purification of organic compounds should be practised. In shift 2, students claimed that there were equal proportion of questions from inorganic and organic.
