In order of the provision of section 23 of the Right to Education Act (RTE) 2009, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has laid down minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for the appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII. Government of Kerala General Education Department invites application from eligible candidates for Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) for recruitment of Teachers for Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala.

a) KTET I: 9.30 am to 11 am
b) KTET II: 12 pm to 1.30 pm

Selection Procedure for Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) August 2012
The K-TET examination will be of objective type Multiple Choice Question (MCQ’s) each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct.
- KTET I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V
- KTET III will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII
KTET I (for Classes I to V): No. of MCQs – 150; Duration of examination: 2 ½ hours

KTET III: For those candidates who are interested in teaching High School Classes have to appear for paper III.
Examination Centres: APTET shall be conducted in all the 23 districts of the state. Candidate can choose any Examination Centre (District) of his choice.
How to Apply for Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) August 2012: The candidates shall at first download the ‘Information Bulletin’ (free of cost) from the website http://www.keralapareekshabhavan.in/, go through it carefully and satisfy their eligibility for appearing for K-TET, August 2012.
Application Fee: The application fee for taking this exam is Rs 500 (Rs 250 for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidtaes). Exam fee may be remitted in cash to any of the selected branches of State Bank of Travancore in and out of Kerala.
On completion of submission, the candidates shall take a printout of the application and send by post to Secretary to the Commissioner, for Government Examinations, Pareeksha Bhavan, Thiruvananathapuram-12. ‘Application for K-TET 2012’ should be written on the top of the cover which is sent to Pareeksha Bhavan.
