Eligibility Conditions for Legal Officer

To become a Legal Officer a candidate needs to have qualified graduation or post-graduation in Law (LLB or LLM) from a recognized institution or university. A candidate must have registered with Bar Council of India as an Advocate and few years of working experience of legal works in any court.

Age Limit for Legal Officer

To become a Legal Officer a candidate’s age must fall into the range of 21 years to 35 years. However, the upper age limit could be 40 years or more in case if the appoint is to be done on contract basis. The reserved category (SC / ST / OBC / PWD/ ExSM) candidates get relaxation in upper age limit according to the rules laid down by the Government.

Selection Process for Legal Officer

The selection of candidates for Legal Officer posts is done on the basis of their performance in the Academic Records and Personal Interview. Questions related to laws, regulations, compliances, proceedings and current affairs are asked during the personal interview.

Salary Structure of Legal Officer

Salary for the post of Legal Officer is given as per the Pay Matrix Level - 11 Rs. 67,700 – 2,08,700/- of the Seventh Pay Commission wherever it has been implemented.  Apart from this, various allowances (DA, HRA, etc.) are also given. The monthly salary could be Rs. 30,000/- per month if the appointment is done on contract basis.
