About the Exam:
Many students choose engineering as their career after passing class 12 exam. For that they have to appear in various engineering entrance examinations held at state and national level according to their interest and eligibility criteria.
Engineering entrance examinations conducted in India can be broadly divided into two categories:
(i) National level engineering entrance examinations
These exams are held all over India. Some of the important national level engineering entrance examinations are IIT JEE Main, IIT JEE Advanced, BITSAT, VITEEE etc.
JEE Main and JEE Advanced are the two most prestigious national level engineering exam. Central Board of Secondary Education conducts JEE MAIN Examination. Admission to NITs and IIITs are given on the basis of this examination. The States of Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Odisha have also joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, are also required to fill in the JEE (Main) application form. The next round is JEE ADVANCED.

(ii) State level entrance exams
These entrance exams are organized by state universities to give admission in state funded/affiliated engineering Institutes. Some of the important State level entrance exams are UPSEEE, WBJEE etc.
